Et gammelt minne / An old memory

A few years ago it was made a  replica of  the mythical ship ‘Argo’ here in Greece. “Argo was a mythical ship that bore Jason and the Argonauts on their heroic quest for the Golden Fleece”.

The Argo was originally scheduled to replicate the Argonauts’ legendary journey from the ancient port of Iolkos, near modern-day Volos, to the Black Sea kingdom of Colchis in today’s Georgia. But the organizers at the time were unable to secure assurances, for the ship’s safe passage through Turkey. So Instead they decided, that the Argo ship would sail to the Adriatic and make port calls in Albania, Montenegro, Slovenia and Venice as its final destination.

This magnificant ship sailed from Volos, Greece in the early summer of 2008  .  And on this journey, Argo stopped over in Parga, at Lichnos Beach hotel & suites for a deserved night sleep, for the 50 men, ho heroic rowed the ship from Volos ,greece to Venice,Italy..

A few photos that I have taken, from that truly special moment in 2008…
